Dreams of the Divine
This is a short adventure game that takes place within a single game screen. It was made using Weave 4.0j, which is an enhanced version of ZZT. (see https://meangirls.itch.io/weave-4)
This game was coded in 3 hours. As such, the story is... terse, and the clues are not many. There is also lots of little bugs, but hopefully no game breakers. Sorry if I missed any :)
CONTROLS: Press 'P' from the titlescreen to play the game. Use your ArrowKeys to move, bumping into things to interact with them directly. (You are the smiley face that starts in the lower-right section of the game.)
Use Space to access your inventory. Items are used in the last direction you moved, or you can use Shift+ArrowKey to use items in a specific direction.
MORE INFO: This is a submission to the Summer '26 2.4HoZZT. (https://itch.io/jam/24-hours-jam-h126-circuit) The rules generally allow for 2.4hrs of active dev time, but as I chose the "3 hours, 2 colors, 1 board" topic, I actually spent 3hrs. (and used every minute)
I'm not sure who came up with this topic but it seems tailor-made for me. I (perhaps infamously) love developing to "size restrictions", so you had me at "1 board". The "2 colors" restriction gave me an excuse to just not think about graphics... and I also like opportunities to be "technically accurate" with rules :)
I don't like pressure so the extra time was appreciated.
I hope to convert this to a "full" short-form game at some point. (still on ZZT) There's a ton of room to flesh out both the narrative and the puzzles, as well as a ton of room for visual polish/effects and sound.
